Artists Bio : Henry McGrane

Henry McGrane is an artist inspired by nature. His landscapes of cattle grazing capture the peace and tranquillity that reflect well the rich landscapes and lush pastures of his homeland in Co. Meath. His keen powers of observation capture many rural scenes that are fast disappearing. His costal landscapes show McGrane's ability to capture the light and atmosphere of a place and present us with a masterful painting wherein we are enthralled.  His oeuvre is not limited to outdoor scenes. His work can be intensely personal yet has a universal quality as seen in his figurative work, they are subtle, pensive, tender studies that draw in the spectator engaging us in a moment in time. Henry McGrane's still life studies affirm this artist's  unique style and skill, they exude light, warmth, atmosphere and the attention to composition and detail is breath taking.


Born in 1969, Henry McGrane started his successful career having graduated from Dun Laoghaire College of Art and Design. He worked with O’Sullivan Bluth Animation Studio's in Dublin and thereafter in 1995 he went to Phoenix, Arizona, where he worked for 20th Century Fox Studios. Whilst working in Arizona he studied oil painting under the tuition of renowned artist Joshua Fallik and later went on to study portraiture under the famous American painter Diane Leonard.


Having gained experience in most aspects of painting, Henry left the United States in 2000 and went to Norway to further his artistic endeavours. Having gained extensive knowledge on the international scene, he returned to Ireland where he has taken up painting full time. In addition to sell-out solo exhibitions, his work has been shown at the Royal Hibernian Academy securing his status as an outstanding still-life painter and one of the most sought-after landscape artists in Ireland.


He currently spends much of his time in Andalucia, Spain.


Henry McGrane's Fine Art paintings have made a name for him in the art circles of Ireland, the United Kingdom and United States, and Internationally where his paintings are much sought after.
