Rosemary Carr was born in England and received a diploma in textile and design from the Birmingham School or Art. She went on to study with members of the ROI, Victor Askew and Pier L Baffoni.   she now lives and works in Connemara. She paints in oil with a palette knife. She always paints outside, using the studio only to finish her work. The ever changing light and colour of the Connemara countryside are a source of fascination, inspiration and challenge to Rosemary. She has been painting Connemara since 1965, when she first discovered the area. There is a new freedom in her approach and looseness in her use of paint, a sense of adventure in her use of colour and a spontaneity that had not previously existed. Hers is an intensely emotional response to Connemara. Rosemary has exhibited widely throughout the UK and Ireland. Exhibitions have included those held at the Mall Gallery, London; the Kenny Gallery, Galway; Kennedy’s of Hartcourt Street, Dublin and the RHA, Dublin.
